The $35.00 mod: installed

I found this on craigslist a couple weeks ago, and finally got around to installing it this weekend:

...and, no Josh -- you can't have it. :P

I was thinking about getting one. Does it come out easy? I'm trying to think about how much I'd really use it too...

What are these things called? They seem like they would come in handy.

stone: no, it was like a week ago.. then it rained all last weekend, so it didn't get installed until this weekend. :P

robin hood: yes, it can be removed easily when you don't need/want it on the truck

Not bad, i'd consider putting one to more use. By taking off my tailgate, maybe mounting the spare to it, or some other off road accessories...hmm...
got any pics on how its installed?

mike (goody): I'm not sure it'd work for the use you have in mind -- the tailgate holds it. :) It mounts via two installed pivot pins that are screwed into the sides of the bed near the tailgate. The extender is then clipped into those pins to attach it to the truck. The attachment is on the center bar of the extender... there are two other "push pins" that secure the extender when it is fully deployed or fully retracted.

funny, when ford was offering those bed extenders as a factory option back in 2000, 2001 nobody wanted them. now, people think they are cool.

...well, as a factory option adding $450 to the sticker, no.. probably not so attractive an option. As something picked up for $35, though... yeah, it's a pretty cool add-on.
