HELP!!! body lift problems

hey guys i need some help
i started my body lift this morning and got the bed done no problem

my problem is the cab i was having trouble getting the bolts out from in the cab and then ended up breaking the one bolt below the pedals. it broke right on the edge of the nut/bushing so i cant get any thing to hold onto to get it out
what can i do to get these bolts out easier. i already soaked them for the whole day
and how can i get whats left of that broken bolt out of the nut so it can be reused or am i goinig to have to get a new one???

i absolutely have to have this done by tommorrow night so im kinda in a rush

You can try drilling out the broken off bolt.

i thought of that but then how will i trhead the new bolt in there?

Torch! If you don't have a little torch go to lowes and get the blue bottle propane torch, it works great and makes it so much easier. Its under 20 bucks too

use a drill bit just smaller then the treads that way dont hit then it will come out easy

Re-tap the hole, or heilicoil (sp?) it

chainfire 01-31-2009 08:01 PM

Try applying some heat to the other ones before taking them out

01 ranger 4x4 01-31-2009 08:13 PM

yea im going to use my propane torch tommorow the reason i didnt today was cuz my dad wasnt wantin me to catch my truck on fire

so if i drill that bolt out of the bushing it should be easier to take out???

k.blakeley 01-31-2009 08:17 PM

go get a torch...drilling out a bolt is no fun.

You can cut the head off with a dremel tool and the bolt will just fall out

anyone else
id like to get as many ideas on how to fix this now that way
at the butt crack of dawn tommorow i can tackle this thing

04blackedge 01-31-2009 09:56 PM

Tap the inside of that bolt for a smaller bolt size, screen in bolt and use a pipe wrench to break them both free.

Redneckstone 01-31-2009 11:35 PM

FIRE FIRE FIRE is a must...

rangertoy 01-31-2009 11:44 PM

I had the same problem with the bolt on the pass side I cut it out and used a extra bolt and put a nut on the bottom side

98liftedranger 02-01-2009 07:50 AM

Whats the deal? Did you get it out?

And yes FIRE is the best way at this point. PB Blaster for about a week would have been good also.
