the ranger i just bought has those "edge" style tall bed rail protectors....a friend of mine offered me a canopy for free that i would like to use occasionally. so my question is how do i remove those bed rails? i would ideally like to put them back on again later, so i would like to keep damage to the minimum.

 

If you look on top of them you'll see little oval shapped caps. Remove those and you'll see allen bolts. Loosen those and the clamps will loosen.

Yep, no problems. Installation is the reverse of removal as the sh*tty Haynes manuals like to say.. lol

So my question is if I sheared the bolt heads off of the clamps during removal (rendering the clamps useless), where do I find the same clamps so I can put my bed rail caps back on?

 

You don't. You have to drill them out and then re-tap them. So if you haven't already broken the heads off, try not to.
