Ok, so just tossing ideas around here, let's say I wanted to do a swap from a '99 front end to an '08 front end. What would I need? And where would I go about getting it from?

The way I figure it I would need...

Headlights
Marker Lights
Grill
Hood
Core Support?

I know alot of you have done a 98-00 - 06 swap, what all was involved with that?

Is there a difference between 06 and 08 headlights? Hoods?

you will also need the header panel....

there is no difference in the '06-'08 front end except for the bumper assembly...

 

You should be able to use:
2001 Headlights (I like the black ones on eBay)
2004 Header panel and hood
2006 Grille
2006 Corner Lights
2008 Bumper

also recommend the 2006 Mirrors,Tails, and badges to complete the 08' look.. ofcourse if you don't already have these mods..

No black, white truck, wouldn't look good.

04? Will 01+ work? 04+? or 07+? Remember, I want an 08 grill.

I want an 08, not 06... there is a difference, at least in the one I've seen and liked.

What's different from 01+? Are they the same through 08?

Don't care about mirrors, like my 99 three color tails, and don't have badges (and no plan to add them), so I'm good on this front. All I really care about is the grill/headlights.

04-08 is the same just different grilles and bumpers

you are going to need a

hood 04-08
header panel 04-08
headlights 01-08
cornerlights 01-08 the 01-05 corners are yellow and the 06-08 are clear with yellow stripe

Why? A one piece will be more expensive and still not have the look I'm looking for, and it will still be the same amount of work, if not more.

Besides, I'm not a fan of 1-pieces that are narrow enough to fit my truck... seems like all of the 'good' ones are 85"+ wide...

So yea, I'm still just kicking it around... but since I need a new grill anyway I figure why not ask the experts!

 

06 the corners changed.

04-08 the hoods are not different i dont think so that is why you need the header panel.

as for the grill it may look different but i think it still mounts up like the 04+

all the headlights i have seen are the same 01+

it would look good IMO... do it.

hood hinges i was told some of the hinges are 2 left hinges unless ur lucky and got the right set left on left and right on right. you have to buy them new from ford.im doing an 01-03 convesrion on my 98

 

and hood there diffrent for the big a$$$$ grill

 

He either figured this out 3 years ago, or gave up.

 

since ur truck is an off road truck id go with the 07-up front end cuz the big grill is just bad *** on a lifted ranger. if it was a street truck aka 2wd id do 01-03 front end like i am just my 0.02 cents
