retrofitting projectors into stock headlights

Hello Ranger Forum,

Ive been wanting to do this mod/ retrofit for an extremely long time. Now that i finally have the funds to do so i have now started.

Direct Link to retrofit kit: Bi-xenon Morimoto Mini Stage III Kit - Complete Kits from The Retrofit Source LLC (6k)

This isn't going to contain a lot of pictures during the process because i feel there is plenty of other sources for that on here. Here is a few pics i have taken of what i have done so far (3 hours into the project)

shroud

projectors!

Headlight Casing

More pictures will be coming

Yeah that's the main reason why i went with these projectors over the halos. I don't like that look even though its a lot less money and less work. It will be worth it in the end.

Thanks KLC. I still need to do the other headlight and waterproof the backing and seal the lens to the headlight. The wiring for the projectors seems a bit intense and i might get stuck on that part.

I'd run a bead of silicone around the projector housing.

Yeah i plan on that. I don't have any right now so tomorrow i will be going out to get silicone to seal the back part of the projector housing up. What do you suggest using to seal up the lens? I was thinking silicone or some type of waterproof sealant.

Either should work well. I'd probably just use silicone.

Clear silicone. Works great and dries super fast.

Funny you mention the melting factor, I was just thinking about that and i might have to go with some sort of heat resistant silicone. I got my kit from the retrofitsource, they are really great and i recommend them to anyone. They are on the pricey side but they are nothing but quality.

Permatex clear RTV silicone will work fine. No need to worry about it melting.

RTV! That's what it is! Wow I couldn't think of the name of it. My dad uses that on countertops and everything. Works great. No chances of it melting.

It's the morimoto bi xenon stage 3 kit. The direct link is in the first thread, I believe it was $275 + shipping.

Well, I dont think its the worrying about melting thats the issue in all of that.. Need to remember, that projector housing is -alot- heavier then whatever the housing was itself.. so when you take a bump its going to bounce it real good up inside there.. so you need to -really- secure it or else your going to have a light bouncing around.. plus you need to make sure they are adjusted properly before you seal it - as you dont want the beam going crooked off any other way.

Do those have a high beam by chance?

its the bi-xenon kit so Im going to say it has both hi/lo.

Im wondering how good this would work for my 99, Ive been wanting projectors in it for some time, but dont really want to buy the cheap ebay ones.
my only problem would be the same as your facing, which is wiring. I hate wiring things...

wiring is the least of your worries in this project, the hardest thing is opening the headlights and getting the beam level/ close to stock position

The wiring is all plug and go :-)

I was going by this post :

but if its "plugnplay" I wouldnt have any problem with that at all.
then it would be, as you mentioned, getting everything lined up correctly.
