they protect well in minor fender benders the protect the frontend from stupid retreads that people run ove and throw up on the front of your truck..my mom has a guard on her truck and a retread hit it and didnt do anydamage to the truck or guard..they have their pros and cons

Well, no, its also known as a brush gaurd.. look at my avatar.. And after riding with my buddy in his f150 and we hit a deer going 60 down the highway, and all it did was scratch up his "cattle" gaurd, whereas his dad hit a smaller deer going less speed with his 250 and it totalled the truck.. I want to keep it..
besides funcionality, i love the looks

i have a body lift on my truck and i just recently put my brush guard back on what you have to do is cut 3 inches out of the bracket and have it welded back together.

that pic is with a BL? wow, cant tell.. and you are saying to cut 3" out of the brackets? i figured you would need to add 3" somewhere.. The guy that is doing all the work on our jeep and my truck said he can put the bl on and i will be able to keep both the cattle gaurd and the tow hooks.. Says he can weld them to make them work.. I asked if they would be strong enough, he kinda laughed. said that he does basically the same concept with the wreckers he works on and they are hauling WAY more weight that i ever will pull, haul and he has never had a prob. yet..
