TireGate + Hi-Lift

TireGate + Hi-Lift
This was one of my projects i did a while back before i even had the truck lifted. I had already my exhaust installed and there was no more room for the spare under the truck so i got this in advanced since i knew i was going to need it eventually.
Somone asked for some pictures so here they are.
TireGate VT was a simple bolt on installation.
The Hi-Lift was a little complicated at first since the problem was the base plate was too big so i needed spacers that would be really too high. So i just removed the base plate put in a simple easy to remove pin and filled the sides down a little so its easy to slip in and out.
Then i filled down the already built in holes so they would fit the proper bolts i to a snug fit. i had to hammer them in (they are not coming out easy). Then I got 2 hockey pucks and cut those lenght wise into a rectangle and drilled a hole in the center. filled one end flat and the other end i left a circle around so the hi lift holes fit into it. (so the rubber protects the holes on the lift) then i got a washer and those butterfly nuts to put on top.
I just threw the base plate in the truck i still havent though about where im going to put it. And in the pictures i dont have my spare on the rack yet. it just came in this week and i have to go pick it up.
Problems: The lips i left on the rubber so the lift holes dont get damaged didnt last long as you can see in the last picture. Might make a sleeve instead when i get time.
:The Tiregate, the sides that hold the "gate" well they really decrease the entrence width of your bed. I got my atv and its now a PAIN IN THE *** to get out. (if you have any ideas of what i could do, let me know)
:Some might not like the fact it only opens sideways and the tire does block your rear view. i had a 30" tire and now i cant wait to see how its going to look with my 33. Will post a picture of it when its installed.

Ahhh cheers man thanks. Did you make the gate yourself?
I think the only thing you can do for the quad is somehow make the gate mount on the outside of your bed. I know how tight it is lol, I have a grizzly 700, and it just fits in the box.
Just use it as an excuse to make a new bumper, or invest in a trailer. Its easier on our trucks anyways. My springs flattened out because of this.

TireGate - VT Series
I have a Honda TRX 400EX i couldnt even imagine putting a girzzly in my truck, funny thing thats the next thing i want to buy.
The Trailor is probably the best idea.

Oooo, just found the most kickass place to order it from:
Normally, the price is 775 from the dealer, plus whatever shipping you have.. check this out:
I'll go ahead and order this tomorrow morning after my paycheck comes in - is the perfect answer I've been looking for to haul my 33" spare around with, while keeping some bed space.. is a kickass gate :-D Its also a damn good reason to splurge some money and beef up the back of my rig - its always hard making the rear of our rangers look cool and different - most peopel jsut tint the taillights and call it good, lol

I wish i ordered mine directly from a site like that...
Jeff, thats one bad grizzly, haha. i would jack mine up a few inches put on some 28" tires and use it for the mud. And every other day since the racing atv is the worst machine to have in the woods. im surprized i havent killed it yet due to all the water its swallowed. haha
The other thing i want to add to the rear is the WAAG tail Light guard. (#13512)
Im all for black metal around my truck, no chrome. i wouldnt mind a rear tubing bumper too but one step at a time.

Ya know what I find sort of funny - I wont hesitate to drop the cash on somethign like this - but when it comes to repairs I cringe at anything over $250-300... Need to do my upper and lower UCA's but since I know I dont have to fix them right away I dont feel like buying them.. but here I am about to sink 700 on a new tailgate -laughs-

hah didnt know that. guess I dont have to worry about dropn some mad cash on one. I'll have to build it

I might be taking it to the Oregon meet to hit the dunes, throw some paddle tires on there, and call it a day.
But seriously get a 4x4 quad, soo much more fun.

Be very careful while ordering from them.. I have had nothing bud bad experiences with them.. I ordered a Light/roll bar from them( that is still on their website btw), and after a while i started calling, and calling and calling and soon it was 8 months later and still no dam bar.. Long story short the company had discontinued the product, yet truckaddons had taken my 600 bucks and had no intent on telling me.. Finally i talked to one of the managers, who explained that the product had been discontinued a year earlier.. I was like WTF.. why is it still on your website? And why am i just now getting told about this.. After 3 more months i FINALLY got my money back..
BOGUS company IMO..

nice, i want a tire gate, but the prerunner style, i'll probably get it at the end of summer, but im not so fortunate here in canada, the only place that sells them around here, they are $995.00. and if the states wants $300 to ship a fabtech kit that weighs less than 50 lbs here, i can only imagine what they would want for that.

In Quebec it was about the same price but add some tax to it. i wish i lived in the US. or had a garage there right close the border so i could send all my stuff there and not have to pay crazy amounts of dollars in customs.
The Grizzly is when i get back from my tour to afganistan. It was between a motorcycle and that and i chose the motorcycle. (Yamaha FZ6 2008) I needed a second vehicle thats why i chose that.
