Do I need to scuff the chrome or put a adhesion promoter on it?

no and no just mask it nicely and spray

I'd put the tape on your clothes first and then put it on the light to prevent the chrome from peeling when you remove the tape after paint.

adhesion promoter = suuupperrr light coats one at a time

same difference in my book. just light 'mistings' will build up to a sexy job

I scuffed mine with a Scotch Brite pad and used adhesion promoter too. It may not have been absolutely necessary but it seemed like cheap/easy insurance on something I don't want to disassemble again.

As stated above, be very careful when masking off the reflectors. The bond of the mylar reflective coating to the headlight plastic may not be as strong as the glue on the tape.

Could I go to lowes and use clear silicone sealant? Whats the best way to seal the lens back to the chrome back part? Krylon Fusion Black paint will work right?

Krylon Fusion Black paint works amazing. No prep is really needed just make sure the surface is really clean. And yes clear silicon adhesive will work.

ive used regular blue 3M painters tape on all 3 sets. but like i said before, take some of the stickiness off of it first.
