KC Daylighters or KC slimlites?

I am getting new lights, and I am looking at either the 130w KC daylighters or the 130w KC slimlites. Which are better or is there a difference? I would get the long distance lights for either style. I like the size of the slimlites but will I lose any lighting capabilities by picking them over the daylighters?
Thanks guys.

well I would get the plastic rock covers regardless of what either came with, maybe ill try the hella's out next. It is just that from the beginning i always wanted KC's and was talked out of them for PIAA 55w=85w lights, and while the PIAA's have been reliable and great, I just want soemthing brighter and more powerful, so I need to get some opinions about which is better. Thanks guys.

neither! get Hella lights. they are cheaper and wont rust. (I've seen plenty of rusted KC's for all of you that will argue that they dont rust!)

the PIAA's are more of a pencil beam, and since I am looking at getting new lights i was going to put the PIAA's behind my grill, and mount the new lights into the safari bar. By the way I loved those RALLYE 4000 xenon, they are a little pricey though, maybe one day

The beam is projected through a lense....its all about a the lense that gives a pencil beam.

There are MANY MANY MANY KC knockoffs out there. Those rust like nuts. YES, KC's will rust over time.....over 10years...

Most if not ALL KC's are stainless housings. They do rust at the rivets that hold the housing to the bracket.

To answer your question...

Where are you wanting to mount them? Some places Daylighters look great. Some other places Slimlites look great. If on the front bumper, i'd go Slimlites. Because they are really really skinny compaired to the Daylighters. Both Slims and Daylighters are avaliable as high as 150w. Same bulbs, same covers, same lenses. It's very much skinny vs. thick. I've noticed no light difference between the two. Daylighters are cheaper though.

I tried to explain this to him that there is no light difference in slims vs daylighters but he still doesnt seem to get it. now that someone else told him maybe he will....

and NO slims are not in 150w... 150w are only daylighters due to the large housing of the bulb and the high heat they give off.. also 150w are discontinued...

also KC has 23 year warranty on all the lights including rust and bulb burn out...

I like my Hella 500 driving lamps, with clear acrylic protective covers. Lights up the road as far as I can see - makes me feel much safer.

Sure they are not metal housing, but I don't run them anywhere where they will get broken. I like the slimness of them.

black housing 100w procomp lights are only 25 bucks and if you pop the bulbs out and shoot them with some black paint before you install them it cuts down on the rust. Also the kc's DO RUST it's called CHEAP STAINLESS!

Hella Black Magic look cool. Do you guys run non SAE rated lights on the road? Little leary of the cops using them. I had fogs on with high beams and got stopped in my Merc Capri.

I really love those Black Magics by Hella

I only run mine when the high beams are on and have no had any problems with Police because just like my high beams I turn them off when cars are coming.

Why would you have them on when other traffic is coming towards you in the first place??? Yes these lights are illegal for use on the street(if you get caught imo), thus the whole 'off road use only' or whatever. But seriously....if you are using them as your headlights, your gonna have problems.
