I'm looking at a C4x4 winch bumper, but I have a couple of questions.

Will the front skid for a level II still fit?

How does it attach, what size and how many bolts? Does anyone have pictures of the mounts?

How well do the factory fog lights fit their mount?

 

I have the C4x4 front and rear bumpers for my steppie Ranger and both are very high quality, in fact I do not believe you will find a better value for the money spent.
Most companies want $1100-1500 and up for their front bumpers and at C4x4 you get two for the price of one and as I have said before you get the quality too.

Call Mike at C4x4, talk to him about the OEM Fog Lights.
I have aftermarket Units in my rear, KC Backup Lights, and they fit great, close to the opening so all of the light will get out where it is needed, so I am thinking the fronts will fit the same.
The front bumper is setup for 4 or 5” aftermarket round lights, not sure what I am doing there yet but at least talk to him, he is easy to talk to and helped me out a lot, good guy !

Also, tell him you read about his bumper on Ranger-Forums.com, you might get a little $$ off !

The factory front skid still fits fine with it. Are you suspension lifted or are you body lifted? It's important to let him know if you are body lifted before you place your order as he's able to raise the bumper up a little more. As for the factory fog lights, you'll just have to talk to him and he should be able to make them fit.

Yes, I have been in correspondence with Mike @ C4x4. I'm looking for some impartial feedback (how the lights fit), and information that he's not 100% on (the front skid). I feel a little bad badgering him with all my little questions, but he has been very good about responding though. I'll have to ask about the RF discount though, thanks for the tip!

How many bolts and what size are used for mounting? I've seen your pictures of the mounts, what about brackets? Did your bumper come with some kind of "brace back to the frame" as mike described it

Everywhere I've seen has had positive things to say about C4x4 stuff, including the price. The only complaint I've seen is that the front bumper sticks out a little far for some peoples taste.

I asked Mike about a rear bumper also, but they're not available yet. I have no idea what final pricing will be, but I would expect very reasonable based on their other products.

I kind of have taken a liking to the Fearce Offroad rear bumper. The design matches the C4x4 front fairly well with the tapered design and angled bottom, however the long radius on the top edge doesn't match well.

If I had the money, I'd just purchase them both!

I'll go out right now and take some better pics of how it's mounted and all the bolts. It was kind of a pain getting the bumper installed as there is a of bolts and support brackets you have to line up all at once while holding the bumper in place.

Here you'll see how the skid plate fits with the bumper. Note I am body lifted so the skid plate does hang down below the bumper a little, only noticeable when looking at it from below.


Here you'll see all the brackets that hold it on, The l shaped bracket for support when pulling, the brackets that mounts to the factory holes and the bumper then bolts to the brackets using I believe 7/16ths grade 8 bolts.


Here's a pic of the 3 bolts that bolt all the brackets and bumper together. 3 per side.


Here's a close up of the L bracket. Bolts through the frame using the hole all the push bars and brushgaurds use.


Back side of the 3 bolts and a pic of the 2 bolts using the factory holes.


Support brace for the back side of the frame to prevent the L shaped brackets bolts from being pulled through the frame.

I want one too, when you mount it up you should post how the ~120lb bumper hits your fuel eco and even more so what it does to #1 t-bars. Those are my greatest hesitations about getting one.

 

It didn't materialize. Mike must have gotten busy, or personal stuff trumped work, as he didn't respond to my last inquiry, then I ran out of time to commit to the order. If I was to get one, I would have picked it up while on my road trip through the North-west two weeks ago. As soon as it crosses the border into Canada, the price goes up quite a bit.

At this point, I'm going to look at fitting a winch behind the factory bumper, or go receiver mount.

I really like the C4x4 bumper, but it just didn't happen. I still very much appreciate all the input and pictures. It still could happen in the future. The next road trip will get closer to the C4x4 shop than this last one, so shipping goes down.

 

When I installed my bumper I didn't notice any fuel economy loss at all. After about 6 months my #1 t bars did sag about a half inch, but that's with a 60lb winch added to the bumper as well. And the rest of my gear weighing almost close to another 800lbs or so probably isn't helping much.

 

You need to find someone in the States close to Canada and have them ship it up to the border, then … pickup !

Too bad about not getting the bumper, it is a good one and as good as any I have seen out there, consider the price and it is the best you will find.
My rear bumper is looking great, all I need now is paint and time or it that time to paint, it is getting there either way.
I need to sand blast it, paint and put it back on.


If you are worried about gas milage then you need to be driving a 2x, 2.3L , 5sp, but since MPG isn’t my biggest concern with the Ranger, I will install the front bumper and in fact the C4x4 rear bumper too, my milage should really go to $hit !.
So far with the rear bumper in place, not painted, I have noticed only a better ride, the extra 100 pounds out the back seems to smooth thing out, next is the front bumper fitment and then to paint.
After they are both on I will attempt to get a MPG reading, just for grins.

Sorry to hear Big Blue Oval isn't getting one, it would have made a killer transformation. I've always liked them. And agreed fuel eco and 4.0 4X4 Rangers don't mix. I'm still considering one, but i worry about wear on the T-bars and though good fuel economy isn't my priority, it would be nice to not make my DD's terrible gas mileage worse.

I have an 08 fx4 double lifted c4x4 bumper and a 8000 lb winch and I just replaced my bars and it made a huge difference

 

With my 33s, stock gearing and all the **** I have added to my truck on my last trip I took with her I got 18 mpg on the highway and I average around 14-15 city driving. I mean it isn't an exact on how it would effect your trucks fuel economy as mine is much older, lifted and has close to 240k on her so that plays into the factors as well.

But as far as the wear on the t-bars go, it depends on what t-bars you have on your truck and if you wheel your truck a lot or not. Daily driving it probably wouldn't hurt them that much.

 

That's really impressive mpg for how jacked up and armored your truck is and 3.73's.

 

When I did my Coil-Over setup in the front I went with a little heavier spring to cover the extra weight and that could be biggest problem now with bump steer, I can’t wait to get the front and rear bumpers on and smooth out the ride some.

Not sure where the MPG will go but gas is going to cost more for me going to SoCal, so I guess I can’t think along MPG lines but it should be worse.

Isn’t there a higher rate set of T-Bars you can buy for the Ranger… anyone know the numbers and the price ?

 

#1 bars are the heaviest/stiffest that I know of, and that's what is on my truck stock. However, there might be an aftermarket company that makes a heavier torsion bar.

 

Anyone think that if u weren't going to go winch, that he could make this bumper stick out a lot less, and just add a receiver mount in the middle?
I do enjoy bolt ons, but this sticks out waaaaaay to far and I have no plans on getting a winch, since a) the ranger front end has enough worries, b) everyone else I wheel with has a winch and im that mooch that has them winch my *** up, and c) its going to get me stuck in 2 places I wheel with it sticking out that far.
I currently rock no bumper when I wheel, and its the rci front skid and caution that have saved me thus far, but id love a bumper.

 

What havé you done about the bumper ?

Did you call Mike at C 4x4 ?
