Need 06 Corner Help ASAP
 

Im trying to paint my 06 corners but im having trouble. I baked them at 200 for ten minutes and tried to pry them apart and and they started to crack a little around where the glue is. I didnt pry hard but ive got them baking now at 215 and they are still rock solid. when they come apart should they come apart easy or what???

Don't get them too hot or they'll warp on you and you'll have a hell of a time putting them back together. Just take your time and don't force them too much.

205 was WAY too hot for me. 195 for about 15minutes, one at a time. it's a delicate procedure....gentle yet also forcefull when prying. Corners will be hot to touch...i use a cooking mit in one hand, screwdriver in the other. lol. Take your time.

Typically, one side will come loose first, then it's gotta go back in the oven to loosen up the rest. You'll know it when you feel it coming and making the skreeching sound, then it wont go anymore.

Try it out on a stock amber corner first IMO....those are FAR more plentiful compared to 06's, and can be had for alot cheaper.

Ok, i got them apart and sprayed. What should i use to seal them back up?

Silicon

Yeah....get a tube of bathroom clear silocone. It's what I use. Don't go too thick in the 'backing plate' groove, just a 1/8" continuous bead. If you go to thick, it could bleed into the area you just painted and you'll see it after assembly. You can use the silocone to help seal it better if you accidently warped the lense by laying a thicker bead in the area which the tweaked spot would be.

I like to use rubber bands around both halves right after mating them. Leave 'em like that for about an hour, then you're ready for install. You can also use woodclamps or even your hands firmly pressing against the two sides for an extended period of time.





I've been wanting to try out some black rtv silocone...just to see what it'll do and what it'll look like.

Thats what I used on mine, just don't use it on the headlights! Unless you can get a perfectly even bead around it. Looking at the headlights on my truck straight on you can easily see it. Works great on the corners though!
