$100 stepside toolbox...

i needed a toolbox bad cuz my cab was full of crap so i went n found this box at walmart for like $80 but i wanted to be able to remove it easy if i had to so i couldnt bolt it down so i want to the local hardware store and came up with the cable to hold it in.. in the pic the cable isnt up in the lock because it was really cold and the lock wouldnt lock shut to hold the cable in... but i put all this together for about 100 bucks.. works pretty good for what i need it for... its a little off set but its cuz the snow and ice froze it in place.. i couldnt push it back over where its supposed to be...

I have the same box in my truck. if you paid $80 for it you got ripped off. I paid less than $50 for mine. I see the cable, but how is it secured to the cable and bed so that somebody can't take it out?

the cable fastener isnt nothing great, i live in a small town with very low crime so im not worried about anybody taking anything, if they really wanted the box they could take it without much, but if i where to secure it better i would use thicker cable and maybe a crimp to fasten the cable.. its mostly so it wont slide around, i drive kinda crazy sometimes so things tend to move around a lot... lol

Hope it works well for ya, I'd just be paranoid about it getting stolen too and I live in a small town with low crime too.

ya i also have one of those, it is bungee corded in . I paid 42.99 at wal mart. That is why I like my cap, i can lock that and the whole box is secured. I have my fire gear and that whole tote box full of stuff, so i feel much better.

lol i dont really have stuff thats worth too much in mine just a few worn tools, gloves, straps, ect. ect.. i get into my toolbox many times a day so i usually have it unlocked all day and just lock it at night.. even though nothing is worth much its still mine, and i plan on keeping my stuff... lol

you seriously put subs in your box? sorry if this may sound rude but arent you supposed to have them where you can get good sound quality? not outside your vehicle.. unless you did a blow through.. then that is an easy way to do it.. but in my opinion i dont think it would sound that good inside that box.. i think it would sound cheap and it prolly vibrates causing more noise distruption.. sorry for putting it down but maybe im wrong? show some pics maybe? i mean its a good idea and its a good attention getter since the subs would be very loud outside the vehicle but i dont think i would do it..
