Need a new rear-bumper, Please help!

So I have never done something as major as replacing the bumper, but now I need to. I got rear-ended. The thing is, the kid that rear-ended me happens to be the quaterback of the football team I play on, and a good friend, so i don't wanna make him pay for alot.

I really don't know where to look to find a new bumper. I would like something like the stock bumper, however, I had chrome, I would really like painted if I could, and for the bumper pad to be black. Where do I look?

Here's the truck-

Thanks in advance.

Hit up Car-Part.com--Used Auto Parts Market It's an online database of junkyards around the country and all you gotta do is look up your year make and model and location, and it'll pop up yards in your area and their inventory of paintable bumpers, conditions, and prices. The prices typically aren't set in stone...you can haggle them some. If you get a bumper off an '04+, the step pad is molded black. If 98-03, it's very likely it's molded in gray.

Now....do you think those taillights may have had something to do with being rear ended???

I figured i would get this, however, they can be seen from over 100 yards in daylight, and much farther than that at night.

I don't believe your numbers. I'm a huge hater of that "fad" after nearly ramming into two in a one week period using proper following distances. And all this is coming from a former niteshaded tail owner. I'd rather "be seen" than "be cool". lol. I won't blow your thread up with "shadehate". I'm done. lol.

Get a bumper and fix it! You're lucky it's literally probably only bumper brackets that need replacing, and not the rear bed floor and a bedside.

Looking into this more, I have another question.

What year bumpers are compatible with my 1997 Regular cab, regular bed truck?

Buddy, I don't understand why you won't have the guy pay for it. It was his fault he ran into you... It is only right. If you don't make him pay for it, at least have him come with you to get the replacement and help you with it. Have him take some responsibility. I've rear-ended a friend's Camero...there was no question that I'd pay to have it fixed. That's what a good friend does.

Good luck at Mid-Way. They have 4 large lots at their main facility, and other satellite lots. I went looking for seats. I looked on their site and found the specific Ranger to take from...the guy looked at me like I was crazy. They may list their vehicles...but they don't keep track in which lot they are located.
