need some advice
so I bought a set of rims for my car, the person I bought them from had painted them (rattle can) and the paint was chipping off in a few places, but since I got them for a really good price it was worth a little work being put into them
my original intention was to remove the paint and have them powder coated. the problem I have come to realize, is the paint is covering a really bad chrome job, but not chrome as you might think. the rims are actually covered with plastic chrome... now, I would like to remove all of it since simply removing the paint has ruined the plastic and I am uncertain whether or not the plastic coating can be powder coated over. so I actually need two things answered. 1. can the rims be powder coated over the plastic coating ? 2. if not, can I use a sand blaster to remove the plastic coating so they can be powder coated ? thanks. |
has anyone ever used "aircraft remover" ?
would that remove the plastic along with the paint so its down to bare metal ? |
