Nice. I always thought about getting one of those locks.

looks good

99offroadrngr 09-12-2010 08:42 PM

hmm hows the lock work? any good?

t3ob 09-12-2010 10:39 PM

about the lock: it's pretty good, it really only locks one of the rods in the tailgate, and you just pop the handle off and put it on behind the tailgate handle basically... its not steal proof, but its somethin else to have to deal with before they get whats in my bed.

EDIT: ALSO THEY MAKE A LOCK FOR THE METAL TAILGATE HANDLE, THAT MIGHT BE MORE SECURE... just a thought...

04blackedge 09-12-2010 10:40 PM

Yeah I wish it locked both of the rods. On mine it almost felt like you could just break the handle off, I never tried though.

Your exactly right though, its just another deterrent to hopefully keep people from even trying.

KLC 09-12-2010 10:48 PM

If you pull hard on the side that doesn't lock you can get the tailgate open. It's better than nothing though. The best way to go is an electric tailgate lock that works with power door locks.

^yeah, I saw those, sounds kinda cool, but just decided to go with the regular lock... Ford shoulda put a lock on the tailgate handle like they did on the F-150's anyway...

Oh, and my cover is a Tonno Pro Tri-Fold cover, and I got it form realtruck.com I had never heard from them, but they seem pretty good, just wish they offered a catalog like LMC and stylin trucks : (

RangerMarsh 10-13-2010 02:30 PM

hey - truck looks good. i noticed your dual exhaust coming out the back. how do you like those if you dont mind me asking? i am considering doing up my exhaust system

Jelly's Ford 10-13-2010 03:07 PM

Hey man, is that cover able to be taken off. Like all of it? Just wondering for the next truck someday. I love my fiberglass one now, b/c it matches the cowl hood but it def does get in the way when loading something taller than the sides of the bed. Thus when this happens I drive down the road with a huge white tonneau spoiler lol.

even those can be opened. ironically by the same method.

RangerMarsh: Yes I love my exhaust, I have a Magnaflow single in dual out muffler... I think it sounds great especially for a 3.0L V6 (I have rolled or double walled tips, I don't know if that helps with sound but I have heard that it does but I'm not 100% sure)

Jelly'sFord: Yes the cover can be taken all the way off if you want to it just screws on till its tight and the back to flip out to secure it all the way down. Fwiw... my dad has an A.R.E. lid on his truck and it's nice and all, but that why I didn't get one like that b/c it would be a pain in arse to take off if you ever needed to for whatever reason.

Jelly's Ford 10-14-2010 05:59 PM

heck yeah man. I tried taking mine off by myself...that dang thing weighs more than the hood lol.
