obvious hood question

Ill be getting some stuff painted come spring and one thing is my hood. I know that a powerdome hood fits a earlier model ranger, so would it work visa versa? just wondering. my buddy's step dad owns a junk yard and im gonna ask him if i can borrow a wrecked ranger's hood, like a 96-99 while mine is getting painted so i can still drive the truck and my dad dosnt get pissed. would it work or no?
