We've got a how-to I do believe for the '04+ trucks. I do believe it's pretty much splicing into your dome light to make the cargo lamps work.

Your correct, all you have to do is splice in the dome light. No how-to needed.

ok thanks man. do you know, will the connector plug thing match up with the one on my ranger? that way i could just plug that in for the brake light then just splice another wire to the cargo light?

No clue, Shane might know. It might come with the connector and you can just cut the stocker off and use that.

What are the bulb numbers for a 2003? is it
Dome light
912
or
Trunk/Cargo area
906

All 3 bulbs are the same number are they not?

Shouldn't be too hard to wire up. I want to find myself one and Mod some LED's into it. Good find on ebay.

The connectors are the exact same....doesn't matter which third you've got.....it'll plug right in.

I just bought my 07 super duty third brake light yesterday from that same seller. And then went to superbrightleds.com and purchased 3 high powered 9 white leds to put in it. I'm going to wire the cargo lights up to the dome light and maybe run it my reverse light's as well.

I put a 15W 922 long life in mine and it is nice and bright.
I had a LED one but I did not like it.

Now, where could I find and what are they called, the rubber stock lamp holders with 2 wires that I could put in my stock light (that are empty now) with 2 more bulbs to make the whole thing light up when I hit the brakes?

The other advantage I think to this would be that if one or two bulbs burn out, you still have one running.

i don't have any pics but there are two metal contacts on the dome light. one side is grounded to the ceiling of the truck the other connects to a wire. that one is the power wire. i just spliced a wire into that one and fed it back to where the third brake light is.

took my shell off and put the new light on. works great

i didn't take any pics of the wiring but its pretty straight forward. the power wire off the dome light goes in to the third wire on the tbl. its a black wire with blue stripe i think
