paint question

What did you guys do to color match your front bumper?

What about the lower valance? I know its textured so what's the best way to do it?

Wirelessly posted (Timberwolf)

I just painted my 2007 FX4 lower valance with duplicolor bumper spray (satin black). I just taped and painted right on the truck. I would never attempt to remove the lower valance....its fuggin impossible to remove. But the results I yeilded from the spray is pro.

Its not that hard to remove. I've done it before and the paint is coming off. I'm going to color match it and don't want it to peel

thats going to be really hard using paint thats going on the truck, you could try but it wont last long, better off leaving it black honestly man, imo it would look better anyway

Yeah, I think it would be tough to get a decent DIY job that would hold up to the road debris a front end takes. If you get a couple quotes it may not be that much to just take it to a shop.

Take everything off your truck you want painted and take it to a good quality paint and body shop. That is the best way. If you do not have the money, tape it off and rattle it. The Edge valance comes smooth ready to paint.

Off topic:
Just checked out your cardomain! Awesome truck man! Love the Sunburst Metallic. I wish my 2000 would have been that color since it was specific to that year.

When I paint a valance I use adhesion promotor, it holds up as well as the rest of the front end. You will still get stone chips.

My truck is at a paint shop now. They won't do it bc its textured plastic

Ive been thinking about body matching mine. or doing an 06 Bumper..

But yeah If your gonna paint the textured one paint it black. If you wanna match it go with the smooth edge valiance

mossyoak03 05-06-2011 03:06 AM

Its already black. Depending on what it looks like ill repaint it black or get a smooth one to color match it
