I knew that ford made them. I was looking at an 2000 XLT stepside 4X4, I was thinking about purchasing it, it had one. And I noticed the skid plate. I liked it hell of alot. Thats why I was wondering.
Yup, I need one. I was 4wheeling a month ago and I had all kinds of **** stuck everyehere in the cross member and around the other accessories. So, yes. For looks and for purpose.
I guess I try and call our Ford Dealer that we deal with at work and see what it will cost me.

Not to cause you guys grief, problems, or to look like a show off. But if you have the skills and matireals handy. My skid plate cost me nothing. I used the steel from a bed frame I found in the garbage, I got the diamond plate free from a good friend, and used my grandfathers welder for the day. Well worth the effort I put into it and something I can be proud of.
Just my 2 cents and some food for thought.

New prices on the factory skid plates have increased in recent months. The stainless plate is shiny, the black one is a little stronger. Neither is a heavy duty, rock bashing plate.

Im going to have to think about that for a while. I want an exhaust kit first and Rancho shocks.
