Make one....Those stockers are a joke if you actually NEED one enough to put it on your truck. I don't think they look that great(both types) either if you're just doing it for looks.

I knew that ford made them. I was looking at an 2000 XLT stepside 4X4, I was thinking about purchasing it, it had one. And I noticed the skid plate. I liked it hell of alot. Thats why I was wondering.

Yup, I need one. I was 4wheeling a month ago and I had all kinds of **** stuck everyehere in the cross member and around the other accessories. So, yes. For looks and for purpose.

I guess I try and call our Ford Dealer that we deal with at work and see what it will cost me.

Dealer price is around $238 locally. Trust me, I've been looking as well. On line, you can find them for $180 or so, but then have to pay $20-$30 shipping. It still ends up being cheaper, but I have an issue trying to convince myself to spend that much on shipping.

Not to cause you guys grief, problems, or to look like a show off. But if you have the skills and matireals handy. My skid plate cost me nothing. I used the steel from a bed frame I found in the garbage, I got the diamond plate free from a good friend, and used my grandfathers welder for the day. Well worth the effort I put into it and something I can be proud of.

Just my 2 cents and some food for thought.

Understood, however not all of use have the skills to do this. Even more importantly for me, most of the customs I've seen look homemade (and I don't mean that in a good way).

New prices on the factory skid plates have increased in recent months. The stainless plate is shiny, the black one is a little stronger. Neither is a heavy duty, rock bashing plate.

Yes, Dealer price is $238. I just called our local ford dealer here in Lawrenceville. My cost is maybe between $190-200. No shipping. Special Order Part.

Im going to have to think about that for a while. I want an exhaust kit first and Rancho shocks.

You'd rather flush your money down the toilet with Rancho's than a skid plate?
