Painted frame to prep for Dixon Bros Bumper

5 Attachment(s)
Yesterday I took off my bumper and cleaned up and painted my frame, subframe, a-arms and such; my Dixon Bros Racing prerunner bumper should be here next week sometime! Also I got new BFG's last week!
I used some ultra-flat black spray paint. Used a wire brush and acetone to clean everything up first, then taped and papered everything that I didn't want painted.

Looks good I want to do that!

What kind of paint did you use??? I need to do that, my truck looks like crap cause the suspension/frame is stained with the red clay we have here.

I used Krylon Camouflage spray. It was $4.50 a can I believe >> http://krylon.com/main/product_templ...roduct_details

It says it can withstand exterior well, and every other paint i've used started chipping already. I like the ultra-flat look also, which is the only way it comes. I tried a few others on the frame on the rear of my truck.

looks very nice... i shot mine with some 59 cent black spray paint from lowes lol, not sure how its doing now though

Looks nice, I would have used POR-15 though on the frame. Form follows function folks.

Yeah, I should have. I know the paint won't last too long like that would. But it looks nice now and i'll touch it up if needed in the future.

nice. thats something i need to do soon. northeast sucks

rolla_guy72 08-21-2006 04:22 PM

Yeah, but the POR-15 has to cure for some time, doesn't it? I will probably do it one weekend soon, when I haven't got anything to do.

I'm not exactly sure what to do with it, i've seen it recommended somewhere.
