paint chipping off chrome grille, acetone?

paint chipping off chrome grille, acetone?

the grille I got off scott was painted over chrome, alot of chrome is coming through now and it looks like ***.... so, would acetone take off the rest of the paint without hurting the chrome??

I dont think acetone will. Im honestly not sure what would do this without damaging the chrome. lacquer thinner might work, but it also might mess up the chrome.

Acetone works great for cleaning the paint off 06+ emblems without hurting the chrome so I don't see why this would be any different. Give it a try. Worse case scenario, the chrome gets messed up and you just have to repaint it.

take it to the car wash and hit it with high pressure real close first i bet some will chip off.

That might take some of some of the chrome as well. Do you know who did the paint work and how they did it? Hopefully they scuffed up the chrome before painting the grille (any decent painter would). If they did do this, then trying to get to the chrome would be a bad idea because it would be all scuffed up.

it was wvcat and I think he just painted over the chrome, dosnt look scuffed up, Ill try the acetone, if its scuffed up then Ill just paint it black lol
