Painting Billit Grille Black?

I searched and really all I came up with was painting stock grilles and stuff. I know there were a couple threads but I could not find them.

I have a billit grille I dont know what kind of metal it is or anything but how would I go about prepping it and painting it? Also if I dont like the way it looks could I just sand it back down to the bare stuff and have it look ok?

I am wanting to black out my truck completely.

Thanks,
Roach

Bud I have also been thinking about doing this for a few weeks now except DWB I think prep would be a b*tch but if it got done right it would look sick. Ill keep watching this thread for sure

Yea they do but what is the point of buying one when I already have a billit grille I can paint for free.

It's just aluminum, sand it good, primer, paint

I'd even suggest goin to lowes and buyin a can of the rustoleum 'professional' paint. It's in a slighter larger can than usual. I painted my center caps with them and banged them up a couple times with the lug wrench and they never chipped.

It should just be aluminum like Lone Ranger said. Sand it down with a Scotch pad, use a clean metal primer and paint away!

Yes, I did it...very easy.

I just scuffed it with a scotch brite pad, washed with degreaser...and painted! Speaking of which, I need to re-do it. I'm doing bedliner this time though :) I like the bedliner look.

Gonna look good andy!...

Make sure you spend time with prep, don't rush it and you'll be happy as a redneck with a chew in when you're done lol

Alright I am doing it this week but have a few more questions. You think I should do flat black or Gloss black? Also do I need to put anything on top of the paint like some kind of sealer or anything?
