hey guys i keep getting water in my fog lights and its getting old using cotten ***** to dry them out... not just a little condesation its puddling up in the bottom iv tried taping up the wheap hole but still still got MUDDY water in them the seal on the bulbs is good (iv taken the housing out of bumper and held it under water at the bottom of my pool and nothing

 

hmm i dont know i keep getting condensation in mine (i think thats from the vent hole though). but try putting clear silicone around the edge along where the lens comes together... also try a thicker oring on the bulb

 

i know my fogs had condensation/water in them after i went from the 9145 to the 9005 bulbs. It looks like the 9005's didn't seal properly. ended up rusting out the inside of the fog lights. installed new fog lights, went back to the factory 9145's.

 

i used silicone around the lense, covered where the bulb fits in and the vent hole lol i pretty much covered the entire back with silcone and well still got water in them

 

On my buddy's truck from work, we filled his lamp housings with Nitrogen and sealed them up real good. No more moisture! Hopefully wont have that problem with mine, but we'll see.

 

If you're using 9005's is your fog lights, that's the source of your leak.

nope i bought hids but they are 9145s not 9005s my buddy sells then and he showed me the slight different between them with a micrometer so i got the 9145s and h10s are identical to 9005s 9145 is the oddest size out there he only sells like 2 sets a year he told me no other vehicle uses them except well...our rangers lol

 

the ford expeditions, F series , sport tracs, explorers, Rangers, mustangs, from 2001 + (mustangs 2005+) use the 9145 bulbs in the fog lights

 

Some Chrysler use them as well.. But yeah you sure the housing isnt cracked somewhere

 

im running 9005's and they do the same thing. I kept blowin bulbs too cuz soon as the water touchs the bulb its done for

 

nope no cracks i even ran silicone around the seems and around the bulb seat...pretty much everywhere on the back half and with all the rain cali had this past week...they are FULL...oh and my buddy is an idiot haha

 

I have the same problem on my 01 edge the fog lights have about a quarter inch of water sitting in the bottom of the fog light housings and nothing has ever been changed or modified in mine. they are the original bulbs in there to my knowledge I was gonna take them off and see if I could dry them out but im not gonna waste my time if its gonna happen again

 

this is what happened to mine back when i actually had a stock bumper and fog lights lol

 

Unbolt them off the truck, split the two halves apart(it just unsnaps), then lay a bead of silocone on the front side next to the glass then another where the rubber o-ring seal is, then snap together. Almost 3 years without a pop of moisture, no water, no nothing. And these fogs were sitting outside on a valence being filled iwth water for over 2 years prior...

All this of course letting the housings air dry and detailed before silocone

 

the common point with people who are saying theirs are filling up with water, for no reason, seems to be the 9005 bulbs... mine were always foggy when i i had my 9005's in it... i just made sure to keep the fogs on at all times...

 

I've been in the creek with 9005's with no issues. I know they've been under water at least twice.
