And thus, it begins.

A couple of days ago my sons and i started on cleaning up our hand me down truck. We took the bed off (6 bolts and 1 wire harness plug, no big deal) to make the shackle flip easier. We used a wire brush to clean the frame up and
sprayed it as a rust inhibiter. Didn't really [I]choose[I] red. It's just all we had.

I also went to the Junkyark today and scored these:

So now I can fix this:

We have also finished the 60/40 to 40/40 seat mod except for sme stitch work:

I know it's just an old turd of a truck, but we have fun hangin out together.

Truck ..... A Hand-Me-Down.

Door and Fender ....... $95.00

Getting to work on your Grandfathers last truck with his great-grand children.......... Priceless!

It's not the destination, it's the journey that matters.

We're gonna do the 2/3 level/lower mod. I don't think our level of expertise qualifies as a restore. lol Just cleaning it up as much as we can.

Hell yeah! I always love projects like this. Looks as if your enjoying yourself, as your boys hopefully are to! Cherish these times! I am 19 and still love when dad will come out and turn a wrench or two with me. :D

Cool. I always wanted my dad to help me work on the truck, but that's a super rare occasion if I just need third hand.

The striker in the door frame can be loosened and moved for a little adjustment at the rear of the door. The front is just the door hinge bolts. Just loosen them a little and move the door down a little at a time until it lines up.

Update part 2!!!!

Well we got the 2/3 lower (shackle flip and coil cut) done. But i think i wanna go another inch in the back.

Before:

After:

It was actually about 2.5 to 3 hours of work, but my two boys and I successfully drug it out to two days. Pluss it was about 9000 degrees out there. Florida, go figure. I got a buddy who runns a local paint and body shop who's gonna hook me up with some yellow paint and his shop to spray it. Thanks to all those who helped me with tech stuff, i really preshate it.

The yellow is from my first over the road truck. A 2002 Mack Vision. It was yellow and all my leters were a really heavy sorta green and the two colors look really good together. So thats why we're leaning toward a yellow with green collor scheme.

looks good, correct me if i'm wrong, but i think all a shackle flip is good for is 2"... to get a 3" drop you need the flip kit with the shackle

All the posts i read referred to it as a "2/3 lower level mod" or something to that affect. Mine came down right at 3 inches. But i'm thinking i want to go at least 1 more inch and ill probably just get a block for that.

As a matter of fact sir, now that ive got the body back together, I am researching engine options. A turbo kit is definately an option.
