Icon7 In the process of a few mods, what i'm doing and a few ideas! opinions please!

Well I just thought I'd give a little update!

Last weekend I took my corners off, baked them and painted them black on the inside...But, now I'm considering just plasti dipping them to serve as tint that I could peel off on the side of the road if I get pulled over because of it ...I live in Virginia so i'm not quite sure if it would be illegal to do that since the corners on rangers are just parking lights? right?

But anyways, I've also been peeling off my pinstripe over the past week(which has been a pain, it was pretty faded and caked on hahah) I almost have the stripe off so now I have the adhesive! Ive been reading I could take the adhesive off with everything from WD40 to rubbing alcohol to Gasoline and paint thinner so I'm having problems deciding what I should take it off with..any suggestions??

Also, I'm thinking about plasti dipping my front and rear bumper black to match the truck as well as maybe picking up a honey comb grille!:big grin: My stock grille is horridly broken under the driver side headlight from the guy that owned the truck before me ...he also contributed all the tiny dints and scratches... :(

I've blacked out the ford ovals as well!

and a 7inch in dash touch screen might be in the cards!

Some updated pictures will be coming as soon as I get the stripe off and It cleaned up! I'm considering just starting a project log with all my mods/pictures since I got the ranger until now.

Tomorrows my birthday thought I'd throw that in there.. just cause hahah

Thanks guys!

I wouldn't plastidip the corners...

As for the pinstripe, have you tried an eraser wheel? You can get them to go onto a drill and that's basically all it is... a round wheel that is the same sort of material as a pencil eraser.

Why not just paint the bumpers to match?

I thought about the eraser wheel but, since i'm off at college I don't have my drill with me..its back at the house so I went ahead the pinstripe off with a hairdryer and plastic scraper haha

Annddd Since I am a poor college student I can't really afford to go get it painted now..or at least I don't think I can. I'm not quite sure how much that'd cost me though, any idea on how much that would actually run me?

Happy birthday.

I would be careful with throwing different chemicals onto your paint to get the pin-strip off.

There is a tinting film that you can buy at hobby stores. Its not that expensive, and it resembles nightshade...but more glossy after it dries. It is mainly used to paint RC car windows, but light still shines through it.

Painting your bumpers shouldnt be that expensive, and it is something that you can do yourself.

Thanks man!

I will have to check out that tinting film! it sounds interesting

and yeah, I'm thinking I will do it sometime soon. I was inspired by the ranger in the profile picture of the "honda impalers" group..or at least I believe that was the name of the group.
