Project Nightshade

Second attempt at nightshade turned out with much better results than my much too blacked out corner lights. Tried a new prep method for it as well which worked really well. Instead of sanding i used steel wool to scuff the lens thoroughly, then cleaned it with a cleaner we use at work (m600 i think its called). Then did three fairly thick coats of nightshade leaving about 15-20 min's in between coats. Then used a standox blend paste and a yellow scuffing pad (soft brillo type thing) to scuff the nightshade and then had 2 coats of clear put over it. It turned out really nice! super glossy and just enough tint! I am going to do my tail lights the same way soon.

Thanks, Nighshade has to go on so thin that you cant get a nice smooth coat so doing a super light scuff and a few coats of clear will make it look like glass!

Thanks 08XLT4x4.. I need to get around to doing mine first! Its not that hard to do on your own. I am not sure if, or how i am going to mask the clear part for the reverse light. Need to do some looking around at other peoples tinted tail's to get some ideas.

Thanks guys. I was planning on taping them off but was not sure if i should mask the whole white section or just a strip of it or just say screw it and nightshade right over the clear part of the lens as well. But i do like the way that yours look mossyoak03, they are the same style tail's as mine as well so i think i am going to go with that. Thanks for the help guys!

Thanks for the complements guys. I think I am confident enough with how it looks to do my tail lights now. I was hesitant about doing them and messing them up like I kind of did to my corners (too dark) but now that I figured out what I am doing I'm going to go ahead and do them now in the next week or two as soon as i get a chance. They are just begging for it now that the top one is done. I think it will will make them pretty close to body color as well.
