Question about clear corner re-painting.

Well I've found an old write up about how to do the re-painting headlight mod. I have also seen several vehicles which have done the same thing to thier clear corners. So my question is, do you guys use the same method for cooking your headlights as you do with the clear corners? I'm really thinking about trying this but want to make sure I have everything figured out before I start. I havnt been able to really find any information saying whether or not you use the same method or if there is a seperate write up for the corners. Thanks a ton.

I believe they're the same method.

The method is the same but the aftermarket clear corners are usually not even close to being as durable as the OE headlights. Many people have cracked or melted clear corners while trying to mod them. It has been done but requires patience and caution.

Dang. Not sure if I will just do the headlights and not the corners then. thanks for the information.

ive never seen the lights, but why cant you just run a thin razor around the seal to take the lense off? hows it attach?

ive done 2 sets of clear corners and havent had a problem yet. i do 250 for 14 minutes for the headlights and 250 for 7 minutes for the clear corners and its worked every time.

The plastic is curved around the metalic part, it's hard to get a straight blade in there, unless it's very flexible.

Hehehe thanks. I have a jeep I could drive in case I messed a headlight / Corner so thats not really a worry for me so much. Just have to nut up and do it =)

Thanks for the info again all.

EDIT: By the way Rangerboy, were the corners you did it to just aftermarket Clears from E-bay?

RangerBoy03FX4 09-21-2006 07:30 PM

yes they were and ive recently done another set for interceptor and no problems for those either. 250 degrees for 7 minutes and start prying the clear from the backing with a flathead.
