Maaco shops are very cheap. $200-$1000 for a paint job. If you choose them I would do ALL the prep yourself.

Paint can only be as good as the prep work. That's why I say do it yourself.

x2. i'd rather drive around in primer for a while saving up for a real paint job.

Doing it yourself isn't as easy as you think specially if you need to do any body work. My friend had to do a bit of body work on his front bumper and decided to spray it himself and it didn't come out great. Wasn't an easy paint job, Lamborghini Monterrey Blue requires several coats of purple and a few of blue, its a bitch lol

The cost paint job depends on what you want it to look like.
if you want a Rat Rod look then do it or as much of it you can, yourself.
If you want it to look good then save and pay the price for a good job.
Around NE MA price would run about $3 to $4K and up depending on the amount of body work.

I agree with the prep work stuff. Do it all yourself. Then save up for a professional.

Maaco likes to paint over everything, you gotta tape that stuff up.

As the others said check around and decide what you want to spend. Actually drive the truck to the shops and have the person painting it look at the truck and walk you through all the steps that they will do. I am about 3 hours south of DC and got quotes from 1200-5k which was for changing it to a new color. I found a shop that let me pull all the lights, bumpers, hood, interior, and bed to save on cost. A reputable shop will want to do all of the final prep so they can guarentee the outcome.

take as much stuff off yourself as you can...thats where it adds up quick and 2200 is not a bad price

Talk to the Shop and see what they will let you do.
Some shops want to do it all to make sure the paint looks good and keep their rep up.
