radio interference with hid's

radio interference with hid's

i purchased a hid kit from mike (trigger01) at the knoxville meet. i noticed the other night when i have my lights on my radio reception goes all to crap. seems to affect stations above 103ish the most. anyone else ever had this prob. and yes i did a search first.

Try moving the ballasts away from the antenna and radio.

Redo all the ground for the HID ballasts as well. Clean unpainted surfaces or right to the negative post of the battery. Also, if the ballast is metal, make sure it is mounted to metal so the case is directly grounded.

shorter the grounds, the better. I pick up interference from a truck that's 50 ft away from me when his two sets HID's are on.


On my truck, the sound's coming from the antenna....try out some antenna filtering boxes. Relocating the antenna to the bed area.

most re-base kits (from Taiwan or China) use on-shielded cables and there is 25K volts passing through those cables. The Ballasts are usually not shielded either. You are more than likely not going to eliminate this. Those kits can even be heard on the stereos of cars passing you.
