Ranger+GarbageTruck=time for front end swap
ok so i rearended a garbage truck and my truck is SMASHED so i figure this is a good time to swap the front end to the 01-03 style i have a 2000 i need header panel hood grill lights bumper...where are cheap places to get all this stuff...im thinkin aftermarket offroad bumper?might be cheaper idk and where can you get those baja flared fenders?i need fenders also and would like to go with those

certifit.com
BEST place by far for cheap new parts. Only downside...is that they don't ship. Will Call pickup only. Lmctruck.com as well....i've bought alot from them. They ship....and if one item is oversized, you'll only be charged once for multiple oversize items(hood, bumper, valence, etc...) on the same order($20) |
The fenders, for glass you have:
glassworks fiberwerx hanneman |
you could probably find a junk yard near yourself and get most of the parts.

yea still runs damn good do you know if the metal piece behind the header panel that mounts to the frame is removable....its bent i think it is IDK needs to come off though
|
i got my header panel, lights and grill from ebay when i did the SAME thing you did. found the fiberglass fenders on there too. everything doesn't fit stock, but i got what i paid for. the misalignment isn't noticeable unless you look for it.
|
so the crossmember going across the front right behind the header panel that metal piece that goes all the way across is that removable???
|
The radiator support is what your talking about. You can drill out the rivits or something like that.
|
so it dont unbolt......hmmm i have no problem cuttin it out and welding a new one in...
|
That sucks, check the JY's if you don't have to have new parts.

Fixed the pics for you
Attachment 195286 Attachment 195287 Attachment 195288 yea the radiator or core support would be a pain but you have to change the front end anyway so it should be that bad. It is spot welded to the inner fender well, the battery tray, where the air box mounts, and I think thats it. You may want to get one of those spot weld drill bits to drill them out, you can just replace all the spot welds with small bolts when putting the new one in. It may take an impact wrench to get the body mount bolts out also. I had to change out my radiator support a wile back and its not that hard just takes time. The crossmember is the part that the tow hooks are bolted to in this picture. You may want to make sure that and the frame arent bent, it looks like the bumper took a hard hit so the crossmember may be bent. You can also see some of the bolts that replaced the spot welds in this pic. Attachment 195289 |
thanks....no the crossmember isnt bent...body lift bumper brackets....just folded over lol
