Rubbing for safari/bull/brush guards?

For all those who have one on their trucks....

Do any of you experience bad rubbing on the front end, mostly on the valence?

Are they supposed to be rubbing??

Reason I ask, just got my valence back from the paint booth. Had to fill in all the scratches and gouges, mostly due in part to my safari bar.

I thought they are not supposed to touch at all?

Yeah i saw that mine was rubbing, but not much at all....So im not worried about it...is yours laying on the brackets?

put some hockey tape on the back of it between the valence.

My waag bar rubbed alot becuase the top mounts went between the bumper and the grille shell.

safari bars are HORRIBLE for that. me and bill took like 2 hours and re-adjusted his whole bumper up more and his bar down more.(glad he took that POS off) the best thing in the world is to sell and get rid of the crappy horrible looking front angle reducer...gosh i hate those things...

Any other suggestions other than tape?

Aren't the brackets adjustable a little bit?

Hmm. Must just be with the safari bars. My Bull Bar isn't close at all.

Ah....the "bumper mod".....right?

Robot_ Aug 15, 2006 01:23 PM

I have the same Westin Bar and I don't have any rubbing. Try and adjust it some, or try the bumper mod.

Nothing wrong with Safari bars, I've had 2 and there was no clearence issues with any of them.....maybe it's the installer that's the problem.....LOL

If they are installed level and correctly......they shouldn't be touching the bumper or valance.

Here's a few pics.

mine doesnt rub, tho i have a waagbar. personally, i dont like the bull bars, i think their too big for the truck, tho i just love my waag. however, i did notice when i was putting it on, that the top of the top bracket would rub on my grill sorround, so i unclipped the bottom part of the grill, tightened up the 4 screws on top, and it will no longer rub. however, my grill isnt attached on the bottom. but it doesnt move either so im not complaining.
