Secret Project VIDEO Shhhhhh!

I finally got around to shooting a short video of my "secret project".
Not HD quality, but not bad for a digital camera.

http://i167.photobucket.com/albums/u.../th_ranger.jpg

It wasn't quite dark enough outside to see just how bright all the lights & LED's are, but you get a pretty good idea.

I wanted a "line of fire" brake & turn signal setup, but I didn't want to spend that much money... plus I wanted the brake lights & turn signals to be separated.

The "real line of fire" might have fit (height wise) above my roll pan, but there was no way I could lower my tailgate.
These LED strips are only about 1/4" tall & even they just clear the tailgate by 1/8".
Each turn signal has one strip, while the brake light has 3 strips.

I added a 10ohm 1/2 watt resistor to the positive lead on each LED strip to tone them down a little bit. They were so bright (at 14.4v) that I was afraid they'd burn out. The strips are rated at 12v, but I didn't want to take a chance.
Spliced into the OEM wiring behind the tail lights & heat-shrinked & wire-loomed everything back so it looks like it came from the factory.
When I had the roll pan off, I attached some zip tie pads to the back side to keep all the wire loom out of harms way.

My tail light backup lights are 63 LED bulbs (from evilBay) & they are BRIGHT!!!

The extra backup lights are a set of driving lights (same as I have in my front bumper) with new 50w "HID Xenon" blue halogen bulbs & they really light up whatever is behind me.

It's hard to see, but my 3rd brake light is a red 9 LED bulb & it's a lot brighter than the old bulb, I also changed the cargo lights to white 9 LED's as well.

As an added bonus, you can hear my exhaust too :biglaugh:

It's a shame that the only way I get to enjoy my rear lights is via video. :irked:

I REALLY like that LED set up. Looks and operates better than a LOF IMO.

Nicely done!

This one looks a million times better, its solid red light instead of a bunch of red dots across your tailgate.

:biggthump looks sweet

Actually, each strip has 24 LED's....something like 120 LED's total.
They're so close together they do look like a solid red bar.
I don't know exactly how many LED's the real LOF's have, but they do seem to be spaced a little too far apart for my taste.

Here's a LINK to a set of the red strips... they also have white, yellow, etc.
99% of the evilBay sellers with them are in China, but with this seller, I received mine in about 2 weeks. This guy was about the cheapest I found.

I've seen these strips in much longer lengths also, but the 9"+/- I have worked pretty well.

Looks pretty good. I like it.

The muffler is a "Flow Pro" brand if I remember correctly.
It is a Flowmaster knockoff, nearly identical performance, just 1/3 the price.
Single inlet, dual outlet, 2 1/2" pipes & (I think) 4" chrome tips.

Sounds pretty good for a 4.0 v6

Thanx.
After I added the 63 LED reverse lights in the tails, I'm thinking the fog backup lights are a little overkill.... and that's not like me at all.
