Shaving front license plate

A long time ago, i remember seeing someone posted up there work on shaving their front license plate holes in the front bumper...i can't seem to find it!! Anyone remember who did it? It was a blue Edge, that is all i can recall...Thanks!

Well that's not good.

Did you wire wheel the hell out of it before welding it up? I can't tell if that is a paint or what on the bumper...

I want to weld up mine really bad, I hate looking at them but it will mean ditching the chrome for body color (or black). And I'm not 100% sold on that idea.

Yeah I scuffed it up pretty good so the welds would hold. It's painted with the stock color, match perfect from Dupont.

It actually came out a little better the second time.

Right on. then just filled it with weld. Couldn't be easier. What did you do to smooth the weld out? Flap disk?

I'm going to do it on the edge bumper/valance i'm going to put on the truck...still need to paint it so i'm giong to shave the plate first...looks really clean.

Its on the back, you really can't see it. I used filler in front.

I did it to my splash front bumper also. take a flat stock of copper behind it and its easier to puddle weld it all back up pretty simple i think it took me 15 min from the time i got the welder out to finished. ya flapper disc will get it smooth

okay. but it'll have to wait for spring break. Don't have anything down here at college nor the time to do it. But i have big plans for up front...you just wait and see...eheh
