06+lower valance removal help.

Going to repaint my lower valance tomorrow, but need some advise.
lol, how do I remove it? Do I need to take the whole front bumper off? Or does it clip off?
Thanks
As you can see, it's faded pretty bad on the bottom.

Its held on to the upper fascia with plastic type rivets, I did the same when I replaced the textured upper fascia with a paintable upper fascia. The lower one is textured surface so I was told it could not be painted. I took off the bumper and then snipped off the both pieces as one piece and then separated them.

Thanks.. . It looks like a tongue&groove clip system. Its really on there good. I was hoping I could take the lower portion off without taking the whole bumper off. Regardless, I would have to seperate the two for painting. Im really close to taping and painting right on the bloody truck lol

It was " way to involved " to just try and get them off from the bumper while still on the truck, seeing is how small of a bumper it really is. I did learn one thing, if you painted them while they were apart, lay them in the sun light for a few minutes. It makes them really flexible to get all those slats to line up.

It is the tongue&groove clip system and that valence is very hard to remove and replace. I had to remove and replace mine because it was ripped on both sides but this is one of those times where it would actually be easier to remove your whole bumper and mask the upper part off then paint your valence.

Good Luck,

Brian

Yeah, smart move ... 5 mins into trying to remove mine I was about to go crazy. I never would have bought it if I knew the lower valence had been ripped at both ends. But some dude from NM sold it to me under false pretences.
The salvage yards won't even remove the 06 + valences from the bumpers and now I know why.

Painted the lower valance today. Just taped and sprayed, with obvious good prep work. Super happy with the results. And wow, I really can see how faded and ugly my flares look compared to the valance. Flares are for sometime this week. Instead of posting a pic now, I will wait till I get my flares painted then ***** out some pics then(easter weekend). Also painted my rear axle/drums and chassis and such. Ever since I removed my steps, I had to sort out the chassis eye sore that was revealed. Im on a painting frenzy lol.

Yeah, I guess having a back up car always helps!!! I had mine apart for a few days while the rear bumper and upper fascia were in getting painted. I used panel push pins to get them back on the bumper, snug but not tight like those plastic rivets were.
