steering ext. regarding a BL
hey whats up guys. so i just did a bl last weekend for my first and last time lol. a few things are left and one is the steering extension. have all you BL guys used it when istalling the lift or can you get by not using it? i know its kinda a slip shaft type thing but idk how much of the shaft is overlapping now. what are your guys expirence. it looks like a pain in the but to do so if i can skip it with no worry then iu will, but if i cant what are some tricks to get that done with a 4L . thanks

Im not sure what the outcome would be if you didnt use it but i know when i did the BL on my 98 it was a complete pita to get it apart to put the extension in.

Definitely use it you'll put too much stress on the joints. i hope your shafts are disconnected right now
you're supposed to disconnect it before even loosening a body bolt... its not hard at all. remove the bolt and pull the shafts apart from each other and insert the extension then bolt it together. I've done 3 trucks, all came out fine. yours should be easier, no snow salt over in CA lol (bastard) |
I have problems getting the shafts apart. but i live in the rust belt and I cant remember if i did it before or after lifting the truck, i want to say i followed the directions just not sure.

its easy and deff do it. Also make sure you put the bolts back on well. Then shit, wrap some ductape around them. So they never come out :)

haha morgan. yea yea yea

its really not bad, if its kinda tough use a hammer. thats what it did and it slipped right on bit by bit. I wouldn't not extend it though. seems like it could led to problems later on down the road
