How hard is it to replace the front bumper on an ‘07?
So my 2007 Ranger got into an unfortunate incident with a concrete post in a parking garage a few months ago. I finally have he time to go fix it/get it fixed. The driver’s side fender has a huge dent and set of scratches in it. It’s already an aftermarket fender so I just want to take it to a body shop and have it replaced and painted with another aftermarket one. Not too expensive for me. There’s also a little piece of molding missing on the cab (I heard someone here call it “roof ditch molding”?) that is a cheap part that I’m gonna get replaced. What I’m wondering about is the bumper. I managed to hook the end on the post and try to rip it off in this ill-fated maneuver. Some body shop tried to quote me over $1000 to get it fixed. What I’m wondering is how difficult it is to replace on my own? I’m not sure of the extent of the damage. There may be a bracket or something that’s all messed up. The bumper itself may be fine. The valance looks fine to me. I wouldn’t even need to paint the bumper to match the truck because it’s under this big hunk of plastic. Even if it came as bare metal, I could slap some Rustoleum on it and bingo! Is there really a need for me to have it done at a body shop? Thanks!

No, you can buy the individual parts of the bumper on Ebay and put it together yourself. Beware though, you're looking at around $300-$500 in parts alone. You'll have to remove the upper plastic part of the bumper to really see just how bad the "impact" bar is bent up. There are also two support pieces that bolt to the impact bar that may be damaged. If those are cracked, you should replace them as well. Below is what you will see when you remove all of the plastic.
