Tailgate Conundrum
 

I have an 05 XLT 4x4, and the tailgate latch broke. I have a cover over the bed and can't access the inside of the tailgate without destroying the cover. Any magic tricks?

If the handle is off, you'll have to drill out whatever fastener (rivets?) that are holding the base of the handle on. The goal is to be able to grab the rods on either side so you can move them to release the catches on the gate. If you can successfully do this, it should open for you.

Conundum solved - the cover is attached with Velcro along the sides, and pulling it up on the side with the cover latch it was easy to reach under and release the latch.
