Painting chrome...

how hard is it to paint something that is chrome? i might get a roll bar that is chrome, but i want it black. can't complain though cos im getting it free. could i just wire wheel it and prime and paint or is there more that i need to do for the prep?
thanks,

The shirt and dirty of it - Scuff it up good, etch prime it, prime it, paint it.

My advice? take it to the powdercoating shop and get it done that way.

i might just have it powder coated...but im still debating if i want to change the bars that go to the wheel wells. instead of having it curve down and bolt to the wells, go straight back to behind the wells.
to help explain, i have this professional artist rendering...done on paint...by me. so not so professional at all.

etch primer is an acid based primer that allows it to eat into the bare steel for better adhesion. its meant to bond to the bare steel, and it gives the regular primer something to stick to.

My 32's I want to paint the center, to leave the chrome lip. I think it would look good like that.
