robert99ranger 04-06-2011 09:18 PM

$50 on craigslist

Masteratarms93 04-06-2011 09:31 PM

WOW! What a deal. I wonder how bad the rust is. My bed is all rusted out in the front. The bolts broke off and everything. I've been trying to find one under $500 for awhile. $50 is a steal.

If you switch to a fleetside Rob I would I would take your flareside and bumper for a fair price as long as they are in not-rusted-out condition. I never use my bed so it doesn't matter to me whether I have styleside or not.

The problem with my bed is there is a crack in the passenger side wheel well. Its been there since I bought it but doesn't bother me to much.

Masteratarms93 04-06-2011 10:15 PM

it's fiberglass so nothing a little bondo couldn't fix hahaha. if you have a pic handy i would like to see it. i mean if it's on the bottom lip of the bed and less than like 6 inches it wouldn't bother me in the bit, if its on the wheel well that's a different story.

robert99ranger 04-06-2011 10:19 PM

I don't have one on my computer specifically of it I don't think. If I remember, I'll get one tomorrow.

Your not supposed to use filler over fiberglass, your supposed to use fiberglass over fiberglass.
IMO Fiberglass is a PITA.

It is when I swapped beds with beard on my old truck I couldn't tell at first it had been fixed. However a few weeks ago when we were finishing up the putting the rear bumper on after taking the bodylift off. I saw the bed at a different angle and the it didn't line up with the cab very well at all. Just looking at it you wouldn't notice, but get down where you see the body lines and it was VERY noticeable.

Yea, you'd be surprised how many Corvettes i've seen get fixed with filler.
Depending on how big the crack is they make kits for different sizes of fiber glass repair, its actually not all that had to do the actual fiberglass work, but prepping and waiting around for coats to dry and then finishing it is where the real skill and patience comes in to play.

I dont really think the work done on it was bad, but once fiberglass is damaged its hard to get it "perfect" again.

Well no worries about fiberglass. I'm not gonna get the bed. I was waiting today for more pictures and then he texted me saying I waited to long and some lady bought it. I told him I was waiting for the pictures he was gonna send me but he said sorry and she confirmed she wanted it. Oh well. Said he will let me know if she doesn't get it.
