trucks 1st scar...
1 Attachment(s)
I was loading some stuff into my truck this afternoon in the 100F weather and while loading I happened to scratch my paint... and I barley even tapped the cab... and look what I got
Attachment 196028 (located on the driver side ext. cab door) so about an hour after I ordered a tube of colormatched touch-up paint, and clearcoat pens...my question is do you think I can get this completely fixed? or is there always gonna be a mark? (OCD about this type of thing, and its been driving me nuts this afternoon) |
Man Im sure sorry to hear that...they always say the first cut is the deepest but Ill tell ya no matter how many scratches I get I am always more pissed than the last one..dont worry man...you can prob. make it not noticeable..thankfully it aint worse
|
the part I'm woried about is that 1st part on the far left... that might require some help...
|
ya unfortunately that does look a little deep but Im pretty sure that a body shop could take care of it..they can really do a lot I def. wouldnt just leave it though thats for sure
|
It looks like you can buff out the lighter scratch on the right and touch up the deeper one on the left.
|
^ what he said.. its a truck.. first one is harsh then you stop caring.. you should never see my truck then you would go insane
|
You'd cry if you saw my truck. I have at least 20 of those
I'm sorry but if you use a truck like a truck, it's going to get scratched. My advice is to not load stuff into the bed. Thats how every scratch I have got there. :) |

I have a million of those scratches from wonderful palm trees.
At least you don't have these bad boys: Attachment 196015 Attachment 196016 Along with the others |
dang... makes me feel better... I'll post some pics of it after I get my touch up stuff
|
Ouch, as stated the first scratch or dent is the worst! It should clean up well with some careful work.
I remember my first scratch/dent when my truck was about 3 weeks old. A elderly woman hit me by the left rear tailight. A small scratch and a cracked taillight lens. Luckily it was fairly easy to repair, all but a tiny dent remains, but damn that first one on a new vehicle hurts I know. :grouphug: |
That always sucks. I was tearing out a bunch of sidewalk an loading it into my truck a few days after I got it. Picked up to big of piece and ended up dragging it across the bedrail. I fixed it by putting a bed box over it.
My newest one is some nice person decided I needed a key drug down my rocker pannel on both doors and the bedside. Wasnt that generous of them? |

Yea im still pissed about it an its been a few days. Its not so much the scrath but rather how it got there that pisses me off.

I dont think many people other then you will notice it if you used some touch up paint and buff out the lighter part of the scratch like said.
The top of my bedrail and tailgate are rippled all the way down, and are primer on the outer edges of the bedrails. My whole truck is covered in trail rash. It sucks but I know its going to happen when offroading and loading stuff in and out of the bed. Wait till something like this happens. Or like above^^ then you will be really mad..... I know I was. Like said above, the first cut is the deepest(wait a minute, that's a country song). The first scratch is the worst and each scratch and dent gets easier after that. Sorry, but at least you finally broke it in. |
i was drivin some unimproved roads the other day and ran over a log and the **** bounced up, damn near took out my mirror and scraped the drivers side door ... im hopin it buffs out with some wax though, didnt break the paint or scratch like that
|
I've been told by body shop that using rubbing compound and a lil touch up paint on that knick will will make it look good as new, and to use rubbing compound a lil after the touch up dries, to make sure it smooths out...
|
Heres the keyed rocker pannel. Its worse than it looks in the pic. Its deep, no buffing this one out.

damn... I'd be so pissed... least they can tape off at the body line and just paint that part...
|
Ahh, damn Steve.. that sucks :-( I wonder what goes through people's minds when they key someone like that.. I mean, at least be a ***** and take it to the driver instead of marring his/her vehicle...!
On my own truck.. yeah, I've got lots n lots of love marks on the paint.. and not much I can do to them, maybe this summer I'll try throwing some colormatched paint on it and giving it a good buff/wax job and all that fancy stuff.. it hurts to look at certain parts of it =) |
at least its not a dent lol it sucks i know
|
it hurts me looking at that, and its on a 07 too.
|
My truck had a few lil dings when I bought it, But no scratches. I added a nice coat of light scratches from brush, trees an such that are in the areas I go.
Thats ok with me, I can wash and wax it an it still looks damn good. But the way that key mark got on the truck is goona bother me(if that makes any sense) I have been thinkin about getting those brushed aluminum rocker pannel guards, mainly to help with rock chips. Guess it would cover up the key mark just as well. |
