Calling all stepside guys with Sleds/Quads

Hey guys, Im interested in getting a Wedge chassis Polaris Indy, they were made around 98 and older. Now that I have put a stepside box on my truck I was just wondering how well you guys are fitting sleds or quads in the back of a stepside box, I know they're significantly skinnier than the regular boxes. I guess if worst comes to worst I can always wedge it in sideways or something. Anyone have any pics with a step side loaded up?

the width between wheel wells are the same as a styleside (approx 40")so if you can fit a sled between the styleside wheel wells you can on a stepside. i know my yamaha srx ski width is about 4 foot wide. i used to be able to fit my banshee in my stepside before i put aftermarket wheels on it.

Those Indy's are sweet sleds, I wrapped one around a tree last year. I just bought a 600triple in August and have been waiting for snow since. As for fitting them in the back, I put a 01 XCR in the back with the track up on the tailgate before. Looks ridiculous, but it wasn't going anywhere. Fit between the wheelwells fine.

Buy a trailer, trust me it is a PITA putting a sled in the bed of a truck and not worth it IMO when a sled trailer is soooo cheap. not to mention most modern sleds stick out a good ways on a full size truck bed so a 6' bed has to look rediculous. Most sled trailers are 10' long. The same goes for quads IMO. Trailering is way easier. FWIW my 2001 Polaris 325 magnum will not fit in the back of the ranger fleetside with the tailgate up.

X2 having done it both ways, a trailer is the way to go for sure.

Thanks guys, I've been browsing around for a few sleds now, nothing that has really caught my eye just yet but im going to look at a 98 xc sp sometime soon, if I don't like it i'll likely be making a trip to the states to see what I can find down there. I picked up some new tires and wheels tonight too, some swirlies off a 98, firestone winterforces with 80%, and he even gave me a free 98 ohv...........for $150. lol

I would get a trailer, but last year we had the four place trailer with four sleds and one in the bed of my f150 lol. But if you go with 2 or 3 others guys loading a sled isn't to bad, but still a pain. I would like to find another sled to ditch bang on, but haven't came across a good deal yet though. I have a '09 crossfire 600

I have a fleet side bed on my ranger and am hoping to get a 4 wheeler soon. I'm leaning toward and Arctic Cat and most of them are wider than the wheel wells. Is it possible to drive it up over the wheel wells and kind of park it on the wells? If not I could probably build some POS trailer but the quad is going to take most of my money to start with.

yes just run the front tires over the wheels, it wont nothing.

i borrowed a 2007 grizzy 700 for a weekend when i was working at yamaha and it was snug in my 93 ranger with the regular bed.. it was about 2 inches too long to close the tailgate but if i got the front end up higher and tucked in the *** end i could close the gate.

dad and i race lawnmowers and mine is about 326lbs and his is about 315lbs and i can get both mowers in my ranger cross ways like thisName: fordandchevy012.jpg

I also thought about building a sled deck for my truck for the mowers like 3 inches wider than the bed and 3 or so inches longer over the tailgate..
