So I knoticed this unused plug on the drivers side dogfight wiring harness of my 01 XLT. Anyone know what it's for? It has a cap in it so I assume it wasn't used for anything from the factory but was there some dealer option that would plug into it?

Daytime Running Lamps Module used on Rangers sold in Canada.

Ah ok that makes sense. Did Canida get a different headlight assembly then?

I’m from Canada and I’m going to say there all same just a module that when key is in run position makes headlights only on during day never seen American ranger but I would say nothing different part wise just like my 88 ranger I have I had to buy a kit cause last fall my province made it law to have headlights on including antique cars if they don’t have them u need to drive with your lights on like at night time witch I didn’t like forgot them on during day cause u don’t see your dash on come out of store realize all your lights are on. Anyways I think it’s stupid if u can’t see a car during the day maybe shouldn’t be driving just my opinion!!

I believe that the module provides DRL by lowering the power used by the same headlights that were supplied on the Rangers sold in the U.S. My guess is that it may do this using Pulse Width Modulation but I do not know for sure.
