HID's. yes or no?
Ok, I know this topic has been beat to death....and I already ordered them.....so but my question remains the same and I can;t seem to find the answer that satisfies me. I've read the link on Danielsternlighting.com about retrofitting HID's in your factory housing and how illegal it is. The lights I'm running now are illegal too. blah. I've read how slightly adjusting your housing so that you can help reduce blinding other cars helps. I've read how those of you with HID kits, with or without projector housings, absolutley love them. Then I've read about how it's not a good idea and is a waste of money.
Another thing that has me somewhat concerned is the frequency issue. I've read that some people with stereo systems in their vehicle receive an interference with the HID ballasts. Anyone have this problem? I'm sure that also depends on the quality of the kit.
I guess I'm looking to start an argument thread....apparently, because I know that's where this will go. But that's a good thing. I want to hear the good and bad points. Forget the fact that I ordered them already. I'd really like to do it, but at the same time, if it's going to be a big problem or severly cause an issue to otheer drivers on the road, I'd just assume not do it.
ok, let the bashing/praising begin....... 8000K HID's in the factory housing or not?

I found this while searching for some info...thought I'd add it.
Remember I live in a pretty small town in Ohio....and you gotta love Ohio for no vehicle inspection lol
As for what can happen if you use illegal headlights?
1. Often enough, nothing. This depends on location. In some USA cities, law enforcement of traffic regualtions in general is lax. Police are generally not equipped to do headlight photometry anyway.
2. Some unlawful HID retrofit headlights are obvious to a few cops. It is more obvious if you have the really bluish or aqua-ish or obviously dichroic fake HID bluish headlights that are known to some cops to be a safe bet to not meet the complex photometric and colorimetric standards.
If the cop believes you have unlawful headlights, you can be stopped and ticketed. Depending on your state, the violation may be having an invalid inspection sticker or whatever violation of headlight law. Depending on your state and the mood of the cop, you may in extreme cases be barred from driving the car at night (or at all) until it has legal headlights and it has passed inspection again with the legal headlights.
3. Excessive light in some directions can dazzle other drivers. It is possible for you to be legally liable if this causes or contributes to an accident. Modified headlights might have insufficient light in some directions, and you could be held legally liable if that causes or contributes to an accident.
4. You may have trouble with your insurance company if you have an accident while driving a car that cannot legally pass inspection or has fraudulently passed inspection, even if the inability to legally pass inspection did not contribute to the accident. You might also have trouble with your insurance company if you are cited for driving without valid current inspection stickers or are cited for having fraudulently passed inspection.

Ahh see your reading into this too much...I agree with the superior lighting of HID's but ONLY if used in the PROPER way, which does not mean putting them into a reflector built and designed for halogens.
I mean seriously, just look at the pics showing the difference of glare between HID's in a purpose built set-up (none) vs. the hid "kits" installed in a halogen reflector (tons). After looking at the pics...can you seriously wonder WHY people flip you off (like you mentioned in that other thread)???

I'm sure that when HID's are installed in factory headlights, the glare is much worse than those installed in black housing like Evan's. Not saying it makes it any more legal, but if you were still going to install these, it might be something to look into doing (painting the housing black), for the sake of other drivers on the road.

I have 12k, i have 2 10'' subs and i havnt had any problems. I have clear headlights, i think i got flashed from other drivers MAYBE twice and ive had them almost a year, i pass inspection just fine also, never been pulled over for them....Many people have opinons, which there intilted to, ive seen, everyone with HID's on here absolutly love them and would never go without, so i think youll be very happy with the end result.
