I don't know if this would be the right place for this thread, but I had just recently gotten into an accident and the only problem I'm having is the passenger side of the front bumper is smashed in. Resulting in it rubbing up against the tire when making sharp left turns.. The chassis is bent where it connects to the bumper and the fender is crammed into it as well, so simply can't take it off the ol fashion way

Any ideas? Those things just don't simply bend away easy, and it's only about 3-4 inches of space needed to clear the tire. Wanted to know my options before taking it to a body shop. And if I do end up having to take it to the body shop, how much do you think a job like that would cost? Any thoughts would be appreciated, thanks!

Well the money the insurance will put out for the damages will most likely exceed the value of the truck.. So they might just scrap it and pay me out or what it's worth. Which isnt much. And the truck runs damn good, would be a pity to get rid of it.

 

Start shopping around in local Salvage/junk yards for fenders and bumpers. There might be some listed in the classifieds section on this site.

As far as the bent frame, how bad is it? Post up some pics when/if you get a chance. If the frame is bent, then you might need some modification in order for a new bumper to fit properly.

Take a cutting wheel or sawzall (whatever you call it) to the metal and cut it away. Just dont cut or hurt yourself.

 

finally a frame thread. sort of. What year truck and bumper do you have?
how bad is the bumper supports mashed in? I can tell you how to straiten them out if you have some chains, a big tree and a buddy.
You should also do what Taylor says, and find yourself a new fender and bumper. shouldn't cost more than like $250.

 

I had sort of the same problem. Last poster is right.......come-a-long, chain, tree. Worked wonders for me.

 

A come-a-long or a big pipe wrench with a cheater bar to bend the pull the end of the bumper out may work so you can at least drive for now.
