You sure it was a ranger?

The f150s had 3 doors for a awhile.

IIRC, rangers are 2 or 4 never a 3.

98 middle of the model year. I bought my 98 without them in December 1997. I want to say they came out like in April of 98, but I am certain it was the 98 model year.

Correct,1998 was the year they started making them with 4 doors. It has always been an option to get a 2 door or 4 door since 1998.They never made a 3 door Ranger.1997-1998 F150's were standard 3 doors on extended cabs.In 1999 they went to 4 doors as standard on extended cabs.It was never an option on F150s,if you had an extended cab you got either 3 or 4 doors, depending on year.BTW,the crew cab F150 came out in 2001.

The '97 model F-150 that came out in either late '95 or early '96 was the only truck that had 3 doors. Only reason I know that is my dad had one of the first that came out.
