Trying to remove drivers door its electric i need to unhook wiring harness under dash so wiring from door stays with door. The truck its going on has the wiring and end of harness to plug the door into once its removed and put on new truck.

I have a 1992 Ranger with a 4 liter engine and manual transmission. It is the STX model with four wheel drive. About three weeks ago the rear brake anti lock light came on in the dash. I looked online and found several 'quick' fixes but nothing seemed to work. I took it to a local mechanic who has worked on my vehicles for a number of years. I have always found him reliable and honest. He check the truck over and couldn't find the problem. As he couldn't get the truck to flash the codes via the proper method he replace the anti lock brake module and tried again. No help. I was wondering if anyone else has ever come across this problem. He says the rear brakes are still working but just don't have the anti lock feature. Any help or suggestions would greatly be appreciated as I like the truck and want everything to work properly. Thanks in advance for any assistance.

Hello everyone. Longtime viewer of this site but this is my first post. I've had my 2000 Ranger for 13 years and it's my weekend truck. It's just the basic XLT with no power windows, door locks, or cruise control, and has manual 5 speed transmission and is 4x4. It's been draining the battery in less than a week, and I've replaced the battery, tested the parasitic draw with multi meter at the negative battery post, letting the truck sleep for 30 minutes with the door latches closed. Was showing over 100 milliamps, but don't remember exactly what the draw was when I first tested it over a month ago. Removed fuse 26 and it dropped down to the normal accepted range below 50. I ran it like that for about a week or two and speedometer wasn't working so I put it back in and unhooked the GEM connections. Battery held up fine for the last several weeks doing this combination (fuse removed and GEM disconnected). I plugged the GEM back in yesterday to check the draw and it was in the 90s jumping to between 100-110, which I suppose is the anti theft. I have replaced the battery saver relay, before I removed the fuse, and there is no change, however, the battery saver relay was very hot when I removed it. Before I replace the GEM, just wanted to make sure there isn't something I should check downrange of it that could be causing the current draw. I have researched this and read several different threads both on this site and others that have been helpful to get me to this point, but I don't want to spend 300 on a rebuilt GEM only to find out that wasn't the problem. Any advice? If I do need to replace the GEM, any suggestions on a reliable source would be apprecited. Thanks.

Hi, I noticed this disconnected red cable in the footwell of my 2003 Ranger 2.3L. I assume my foot caught it at some point and ripped it apart. But, it's probably been that way for a while and I haven't noticed anything not working. I'm going to fix it, but I'm curious what its function is. Any ideas? Thank you!
Instead, i am looking at installing a line lock on the rear wheels brake line, has anyone entertained the thought ? Ive put them in before on my vettes, work good, not going to use it for a long duration, just to keep it still for a bit. FORD could of done better on the rear parking brake - there are lots of ideas out there, but pulling axles - bad idea

Hi everyone and thanks for your help in advance! I recently purchase a 1998 Ford Ranger 2.5 from California since it was rust free everywhere. Super clean truck with no hints of rust on frame, chassis, rockers, wheels wells, etc...118K miles on it. I was doing a radiator flush, oil change, new thermostat, etc... When I was removing the thermo
stat housing, I took the hose off. As I followed it back, I noticed what appears to be a clipped wire. I am not sure exactly what it is. I looked through my haynes manual and I am still coming up empty. Attached is a pic and any help would be much appreciated! So I removed the heater control valve, but have no idea where this red wire, the seems clipped, would go. One end looks like a wire as seen, when I pop it off, it looks like a small hose. I guess it's the vacuum hose that connects somewhere on the passenger side firewall. Looks like a wire from the initial pic.

I've replaced the fuel pump, it has a good inertia switch, and swapped the fuel pump relay for the horn relay and still nothing. I've done an inspection by the ABS unit and it's bracket along with by the battery, both look good. I've chased the wiring loom back from the fuel pump till the point it enters the cab and that loom looks good. I've tried putting a 40 amp fuse in and it still blows it.

Is there any other areas where it might short so that i can go inspect those areas for a short? So i can get the rig back on the road.

2000 Ranger 2.5 4x2 5 speed with speedometer problems. Gonna try replacing the GEM module so I ordered what was listed as a XL5T-14B205-DE but when I got the item it was actually XL5T-14B205-DC. The parts seller offered to return it but he "promises" that it will work. Does anyone know if that's true? If it's the same part, or if it works the same then why would there be 2 different part numbers for the same generation of truck?

These fit 99-03 models and there are, I believe, 4 different part numbers for the GEM module.

I tested the brake lights and the lights worked.
I took it all back apart and put the bushing in and no brake lights. after about 2 hours of head scratching I gave up and left the bushing out.
Stumped on this one....... Any ideas???
