1996 Ranger extended cad 2.3 4-banger 5speed (Jolly Ol' Ranger)
Here's one for ya'll.
The wiring for the alternator disappeared. I'm baffled.
I replaced the crank sensor along with PS pump, water pump serp belt. With that, necessary parts where temporarily removed to make all this happen... ya'll have ben there before. The AC system and pump was completely and permanently removed. Everything went back together no problem, except the alternator wiring. Its MIA. I've look all over the engine compartment and its no were to be found. I've looked at pictures, watched videos and looked through the Haynes manual. I've checked the wire diagrams and followed the wiring from the battery. I'm not seeing any other leeds. I only see the starter connected to the battery. The local yards don't have a 2nd gen Ranger 4cyl like mine to compare. I even searched for a new wire to possibly purchase. Nothing. I was sure these wires where loomed together with all the other wiring, therefore I couldn't of lost it or thrown it out. Maybe I'm wrong. Consider automotive wiring isn't my expertise. I'm at a loss. I'm about to remove the new parts thinking I may have smash the wiring behind something, but I doubt that's the case.
Lol, can anyone provide some wisdom in this matter?

Thank you. Any advise would be helpful

My problem happens when engine is warmed up, idling at stop, but not in park, only in gear and neutral. Started a month ago. When in park, there is a little bit of a rough idle, shaking, but smooths out fine when put in gear. The rpm's will suddenly drop to 500 or so as if it is stalling but quickly recovers after a second. Does it about every 5mins when at stop/idle, not when driving/accelerating, although seems to have liitle less power when driving. No check engine light or codes. Spark plugs seem fine, changed 2 years ago. Coil pack replaced, Motorcraft, 2 years ago. MAF, IAC, Throttle Body and MAP were cleaned, oil changed, but made no difference. Smoked tested for vacuum leak in engine, but didnt find anything. Thought i heard brake booster hissing, but brake pedal seems fine. Not sure what else might be the cause. Normal idle rpm for this Ranger, with 120k miles, has been around 850-870, a but high i think, a little shake/misfire in park but not horrible, and no codes.

Checked fuel pressure when engine running, got 61psi. Brand new Motorcraft fuel filter put on, but made no change. Any thoughts?
