headlight switch

is the **** supposed to light up green like everything else in the cab? or is this the only piece that doesn't? I ask because it has the white markings like everything else, but it doesn't turn on at all.

The headlight switch is supposed to be lit. That's what I've been told. Buggmann is still working on a plug and play LED replacement. But many people have just soldered in LED's

The reason most burn out is that the switch is always lit when the truck get 12V power from the key switch.

Mine was never lit since I bought it.

But I know people have pulled the switch out and found the bulb in there

they're supposed to light up. each switch has a bulb on it which usually dies. best bet is to do an LED swap on it because you'll never find a workign one at a junkyard

I'd swear my 08 headlight **** didn't light up. And, I bought my truck brand new so it should have worked. Maybe I'm dreaming, but I remember it just being painted white where it would normally light up.

you'll def find a bulb lol. i have a 99 and it had the bulb back there it was burnt out. i took the little green filter and the bulb was black, meaning it was once lit up. I now have an LED but that thing died somehow.

...the little dash on the switch doesn't light up, but the icons in the circles above the switch do light up like so...

Didn't I let you know 01RangerEdge???? I've got plug-n-play led modded bulb holders for headlight, fog & 4x4 switches

Here's one of my older headlight switch led modded bulb holders:

I never knew the headlight switch lit up until I heard about someone doing a led mod... soon after I grabbed an extra switch, found out the bulb holder is removable & put my own twist on the led mods.
I modded my headlight switch with a green led but once I have time, I'm going to change mine to blue to match my radio/voltmeter/hvac...

That little bulb is on whenever the truck is running, so they burn out pretty quick. Ford knew what they were doing though... you can't just buy the bulb holder... you gotta buy the whole darn switch.

If anyone is interested in my led mods, just drop me a PM.

The headlight switch is the hardest (in my opinion) to do...

I had to remove the radio bezel, lower dash, steering wheel surrounds & the dash around the gauge cluster.

The switch is screwed to the back of the dash panel with 2 screws. You can remove the switch if you want, but I left mine in & just wriggled around to see what I was doing.

My led modded bulb holders are OEM headlight bulb holders that I mod with high output leds 10,000 - 20,000mcd. They remove from the switch with a flat blade screwdriver, 1/4 or 1/2 turn & the bulb holder comes out from the back side. Mine install exactly the same way as the old bulb holder except mine have the wire/resistor sticking out the back. There's plenty of room behind the switch & I just tuck the wiring along with the stock wiring plug to the switch.
My mod doesn't require any wiring on the user's part, just a flat screwdriver to install.

How were me and Pedro wrong? That's what we were talking about, not the ****, just the circles.

EDIT: Now that I reread the original post, he said ****, I read over that and assumed he meant the circles

Damn mine just burned out! so let me get this straight, the bulb in the switch is not a pull out style bulb, you have to solder in a new bulb?

It wouldn’t be hard to make a setup that would light up the HeadLight Sw ****…

This spring (warmer weather) I will be putting a single SMT LEDs in all four *****, Head Light and Heater Control, each light will have its own light, now to regulate them.

Something new for buggman to work on !

headlight switch is really easy to do. no soldering requried:

http://www.cardomain.com/ride/296394...ar-cab/page-12

takes longer to get the switch out than it does to replace the bulb.

But does that light up the switch ?

Buggman come back to us here… is a SMT LED + resistor able to be mounted in the **** itself of the Headlight Sw and all of the heater control sw’s ?
