97 xlt crossmember help

I just bought a 97 ranger. Pulled the bed to clean it up and found a crossmember rotted out. I can't find a replacement part online. It's the one behind the fuel tank crossmember. Can anyone help? Would two 1x1 square channels bolted in work?

I decided two pieces of angle iron bolted together would do just fine

Finished product. Had to make new holes for it to line up. We will see how it holds up. I used 1/2" grade 8 bolts.
