So for quite a while I had wanted to get one of the safety racks for my truck and finally priced it out and its well over $250 Canadian so its really not worth it. I've been searching the site and found one that T5cents made that looks completely awesome. I had been looking around trying to find out hows a good way to mount it. T5cents bolted his through his tool box and into the rail, but Im not really sure what he bolted it to or if theres a better way. I like the way the back racks mount using the stake pockets, is there anything I can get to use in that same way. I know you can buy the loops that bolt in the pockets but is there a way i can modify them. Well any help and or advice would be great, I'll keep the updates and the pictures coming on the progress

Why not just buy the same outside diameter square tubing as your stake pockets and drop it in there? I am pretty sure there are a couple of holes in the pockets, so run a bolt through them...

 

What if you just bought the backrack brackets and made the rest yourself?

 

Sorry for the late reply, it never came back up in my cp. Ok so ya I just looked and I found the holes on the inside of the stake pockets and I didn't realize that was there so that's my best cheapest bet thankyou and I didn't know you could buy just the brackets I guess that would be worth pricing too thanks alot guys

i know i'm alittle late to chime in but, i used threaded rod and bent a j into one end and put that in the stake pocket, theres a hole facing the inside. worked grate. was strong enough i could tie fridges to the back rack. cheap and strong

 

what size threaded rod?

 

it was 4 years ago so i cant remember off the top of my head. it was a 1/2" socket for the nut on the end, but i cant remember what size the rod was, maybe 5/16? also a tip if your using square tube. cut a bigger hole on top to clear the socket around 3/4", then drill another smaller hole on the bottom side for the threaded rod to come through to bolt it down.
